Fishing by fly, bait and spinner are all permitted on the Lilly Loch. Outside of the brown trout season, livebaits such as maggots or worms are not permitted. Powerbait is permitted, however swimfeeders are not allowed at ANY time.

There is a fly fishing only area on the south side of the loch, which has a maximum bag of two fish per angler. After catching two fish they must leave and fish another part of the loch, regardless of whether they release the fish they have caught.

Only one rod per angler at any one time. Anyone found in breach of this rule by a club member or bailiff may face a future ban from the Lilly Loch and also from the neighbouring Hillend Reservoir, controlled by Airdrie & District Angling Club.

Boat hire is available for a maximum of two anglers per boat, and is for fly fishing only. Cost of boat hire is currently £6 per day. Boats are row-boats, and outboard engines are not supplied.

From 1st May until 30th September, night fishing is permitted, and there are two 12 hour fishing sessions, 7 am to 7 pm, and 7 pm to 7 am.

Camping is permitted at the loch for no extra charge, however anglers who do camp are reminded NOT to light fires and to place rubbish in the bins provided.
